XCome Technology Joins Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Licensee Program

. Date of Release: 2009-07-20
TAIPEI, Taiwan – July 20, 2009 - XCome Technology officially announces XCome’s joining of the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync licensee program. Based on this, XCome is developing an Exchange ActiveSync client for Chunghwa Telecom on the CHT 5500 handset, manufactured by Huawei Technologies.

This is the first of a series of product announcements as XCome is currently working with mobile phone, netbook and Smartbook vendors in developing Personal Information Management (PIM) solutions which will be announced later in 2009.

Four major features are supported by the XCome ActiveSync solution: E-mail, Calendar, Contacts and Task Lists
via Direct Push Synchronization. Supporting Microsoft Exchange as well as POP3/IMAP email allows users to
manage their corporate and personal email accounts (including web-based emails such as Hotmail, Yahoo Mail,
Gmail, etc.) in one convenient mobile client.

Said David Kaefer, general manager of Intellectual Property Licensing at Microsoft: “XCome came to us a few months ago to discuss the value of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and we are pleased they’ve decided to implement it in their offerings and license the Microsoft patents that cover much of this valuable technology. As we see so often, licenses like this are win-win propositions that increase choice and expand market opportunities.”

Proclaims Jack Yang, XCome CEO, “By working with Microsoft in running the mobile Windows Live Messenger solutions for Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone (covering over 90% of the Taiwan mobile carrier market), we are delighted that we can expand our partnership with the licensing of the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol to develop our own PIM client solutions for mobile phones, netbooks and the up-and-coming Smartbooks. Additionally, our proximity to the world’s leading ODM and OEM IT manufacturing companies gives us a unique advantage in terms of sharing of information, accelerating time to market for new products and exceptional local support.”
